About Moose in the Hoose

Pass IT on – There’s a ‘Moose in the Hoose’!

"Computers and information technology (IT) are brilliant things. They bring the world to your doorstep – but to be useful your door does need to be open!"

“Where We Are”
The project has now moved on to its next exciting phase….

Jenny Ridge. Chief Exec. ACE IT says -
“We are extremely grateful to The City of Edinburgh Council Health & Social Care Department, as ACE IT has been part funded to continue the highly valued work of the Moose in the Hoose project beyond 2010.
We have some great new developments and ideas coming up...So watch this space!”

Media Literacy in Scotland

‘Digital Britain’, an interim report published on 29 January 2009 jointly by the UK Governments Departments for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and for Culture Media and Sport said:

“If we are to maximise the digital opportunity, we will need to ensure a population that is confident and empowered to access, use and create digital media

"The importance of media literacy is increasingly recognised : its role in literacy learning and creativity: in engagement, participation and citizenship and in the economy. "

Research & Development

“The Moose in the Hoose work should be an exemplar, ideally a template that can be used to provide the same benefits to care home residents throughout Scotland....

....“Computers offer a way of remaining connected to the world irrespective of physical or sensory impairment. They can provide opportunities for entertainment, creativity and communication with friends and family, enhancing quality of life particularly for older people at risk of isolation, or those who feel that they are losing privacy and autonomy through institutionalisation”
 - Dr Anna Dickinson,
Royal Society Research Fellow on the Ageing Population
Dundee University.
