Chris
Jamieson Project Scotland Volunteer will be leaving very soon as his
year placement with ACE IT comes to end.
Everyone at Caledonian House is in full agreement that he has made a
terrific difference to us here at ACE IT and with the Moose project
too - not only has he the technical expertise but the ability to
impart information in a non 'geeky' way.
He is also very personable young man who been of great help and
assistance to many individuals within the project and has also
helped our learners outside of his remit at Caledonian House.
"Working full-time at ACE-IT has been, and still is, an excellent
experience for me." Chris said. "I have learned many new skills in
teaching, working with people and in IT and also many other less
tangible social ones. It has also opened my eyes to the exclusion
many older people face in our society - computer exclusion just
being one of them - and how it can be alleviated. I've also seen
first-hand how older people can make a little computer knowledge go
a long way in improving their lives, from the extra time and energy
saved from learning how to use a website to order their weekly shop
through keeping in touch by using video conferencing software to
chat face-to-face with relatives hundreds of miles away”.

A Moose Volunteer said. "We all wish him all the best and would
like to say thank you from both Chris and me for all his cheerful
and expert help at various times; and to tell him that he is someone
we would be delighted to maintain contact with in the future". |
